BTMS 25

What is BTMS-25?

BTMS-25 stands for Behentrimonium Methosulfate (25%) and Cetearyl Alcohol. It’s a mild, conditioning emulsifier, often used in hair conditioners, lotions, and creams.

✅ BTMS-25 contains 25% active conditioning ingredient, whereas BTMS-50 contains 50%. So BTMS-25 is gentler, especially for leave-in products or sensitive skin.

USES of BTMS-25

1. Hair Care

• Conditioners (rinse-off and leave-in)

• Detanglers

• Hair masks & treatments

• Co-wash formulas

2. Skin Care

• Lotions

• Creams

• Body butters

• Facial moisturizers (especially for sensitive skin)

3. Emulsifying Agent

• Combines water and oil phases in lotions and creams.

• Provides a light, non-greasy finish.

Usage Range

Tip: The more BTMS-25 you use, the richer and more conditioning your product will feel. Start low for lighter leave-ins.

DIY Example: Simple BTMS-25 Hair Conditioner

Ingredients:

• 75% Distilled Water

• 5% BTMS-25

• 5% Cetyl Alcohol (extra slip and softness)

• 10% Carrier Oil (jojoba, argan, or coconut)

• 3% Glycerin (humectant)

• 1% Preservative (like Optiphen)

• 1% Essential Oils or Fragrance (optional)

Instructions:

1. Heat oil phase (BTMS-25, cetyl alcohol, oil) and water phase separately.

2. Combine and blend until creamy.

3. Cool below 40°C, add preservative and fragrance.

4. Pour into a clean bottle or jar.
